Migdal Ohr (Hebrew for "Tower of Light") was established in 1972 for the express purpose of providing education and social guidance to the children from underprivileged and problem homes in northern Israel. Overcrowded apartments, one-parent families, homes with drug problems, impoverished, crime-ridden families--these are the target populations from which Migdal Ohr draws its over 6,000 pupils at all levels of the educational spectrum.
Friend Ships (Park West Children's Fund, Inc.) is a U.S. based non-profit organization in operation since 1983, providing large-scale humanitarian aid. We have distributed more than 50 million pounds of food to needy families in the U.S. and delivered humanitarian cargo on international missions to Central America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, the former U.S.S.R., West Africa and the Middle East. FRIEND SHIPS INTERNATIONAL operates a permanent outreach program in The Bay Islands, Honduras, Central America.
Our staff is comprised of entirely unpaid volunteers from around the world. Private donations, volunteer staff and corporate gifts are the tools that make it possible for Friend Ships to collect, transport and disperse relief commodities on a large scale in a cost-effective way.
MSF is currently focused on Haiti, an island nation of over 7 million population where almost 75% of the population is children.
Haiti is universally acknowledged to be the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, as environmental degradation and overpopulation have combined to create hellish conditions.
Haiti experiences unemployment of over 70% and the average wage of those lucky enough to find employment is the equivalent of approximately US $150.00 per year.
Smile of a Child exists as an ambassador of our Savior Jesus Christ to the children of the world.

...Finally, some news and pictures from April and May. Huge apologies, but things have been hectic as we have consolidated our three houses into two; seen some children off to boarding school; travelled to the UK to talk to donors; and more....
The fantastic news is that we are a couple of days away from taking possession of our OWN compound after two+ years of searching and negotiating!
There are enough buildings on the land we are buying to allow us to move out of all our rented housing - we hope to be moved by the end of July!
We are shocked and humbled at the provision we have experienced.
I have linked two documents - one is the normal progress report, the other is additional information and pictures of our new compound for those who want to see more!
We are all well here, and excited about the future. As soon as we have the keys we will take our kids and staff over to the new compound to see it!
